A reason to blow hot air...

There are four basic elements that one must learn to get the full range of sounds out of the didgeridoo. Each element becomes the building block for the next technique. We will learn:

1) Drone Tone
2) Overtone
3) Subvocalizing
4) Circular Breathing

With these simple four steps and a little practice, you will be on your way to being the first Didjeridoo player on your block!

Marimba Maramble

'Marimba' literally means 'voice of wood'. Marimbas -in the xylophone family- have wooden keys mounted above resonators to amplify the sound. Resonators made from PVC pipe have cellophane covered holes to produce a lively hum. These marimbas are tuned to the C major scale. Soprano and tenors have over two octaves while the larger baritone and the big bass have just over one.

Join us once a week and learn to play the most amazing Marimba's

The Bodhran (pronounced Bow-Rawn or Bough-Rawn) is a simple and very old type of drum known as a frame drum. Frame drums by different names are found in many different countries around the world, including Algeria, Morocco, China, Russia, and Egypt.
The bodhrán is an old drum but a young musical instrument. Although it has existed in Ireland for centuries, it was introduced into traditional music performance only in the 1960s, and became common only in the 1970s.
We've heard differing opinions on the ultimate origin of the bodhán. Some writers believe that the drum originated in Africa and came to Ireland by way of Spain. Other people, including Henry Geraghty, believe that it originated in Central Asia, and was carried through Europe to Ireland by the Celtic migrations.
